Dear Fans, Collectors and Friends,

The treasured items within the pages of this catalog represent the foundation of my career. They are all the “Bette’s” you have come to know through the years: The Divine Miss M, The Rose, Delores de Lago, Soph, Bathhouse Betty, and so many other characters, up to my Vegas extravaganza that ended in 2010, “The Showgirl Must Go On.” Countless other hidden gems from my entire career fill in the rest. For me, reviewing the pieces in this collection has been heartbreaking and hilarious, all at the same time. What a wonderful time I had, and what wonderful artists and artisans I was blessed to work with. I owe them my life. They brought brilliant design ideas to the table and saw that whatever ideas I had were beautifully brought to life. But the time has come for me to pass along these personal treasures, and I do it for so many reasons, but mainly to support the greening group I founded 16 years ago, New York Restoration Project. NYRP’s mission is to reclaim and restore New York City parks, community gardens, and open spaces. I strongly believe that clean and green open space can effectively change the fabric of our most stressed neighborhoods, and it is my fervent desire to finish the work that I started so long ago. So here’s to our journey! My hope is that you, both fan and collector, walk away with and enjoy these cherished items from my life and career...If you have fond memories, these items will surely reinforce them. Know also that the cause you are helping to sustain is near and dear to my heart...who loves me loves the planet, too. To those of you who have lovingly supported me in the past, I cherish more than ever your support of me and my project at this very moment.
